Our Mission

We're making local easy.

We started a company in the middle of a pandemic.

In March of 2020, as the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded across the globe, Ethan Pierce and Emma Snyder both found themselves unexpectedly jobless.

Coming from backgrounds in tech and having an understanding the restaurant industry, they decided to launch Grocery Outpost in order to save the local independent restaurants and artisans that they love.

85% of independent restaurants are at risk of closing this year due to COVID-19.

Every day, more independent restaurants are forced to close their doors (you can view the tragic and ever-growing list of now-closed establishments in the Boston Area here).

Cash flow is crucial to keeping small restaurants open,  which is why we strive to provide independent restaurants a significant, sustainable and hands-off additional revenue stream week-over-week that they can count on.

$68 out of every $100 you spend locally stays in the community,

compared to only $43 when you shop at a national chain. We want to uplift the local makers and artisans in our community by helping them reach new customers and offer their products to people who can't come to their physical store (if it's even open at the moment!)

We keep you safe with pickup and delivery.

We know that right now there's a lot that's uncertain and we want to make sure you're able to receive your groceries safely and comfortably.  We know that it can be hard to support local businesses when ordering online (we're looking at you, predatory ordering apps!).

That's why we offer a better alternative: In addition to safe pick up at any of our restaurant partners we offer no-contact home delivery to make it as easy as possible for you.
